Sabres Vs Hurricanes Score: Jamie McBain Scores Overtime Winner

In a game that was desperately needed for both teams, at least both teams earned a point with it going to overtime. Jamie McBain scored the overtime winner 26 seconds into overtime to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 victory. His goal was assisted by Joni Pitkanen and Eric Staal.

The Buffalo Sabres got the scoring started at the four minute mark in the second period. Steve Montador scored his fifth goal of the season with assists by Tyler Ennis and Andrej Sekera. The Hurricanes scored two minutes later with a goal from Jiri Tlustly. The Sabres got their second lead of the night at the ten minute mark of the second period with new trade acquisition Brad Boyes. Boyes scores his second goal in as many nights for the Sabres with assists from Steve Montador and Andrej Sekera. The Hurricanes tied the game up quickly again with a goal from Chad LaRose.

The Hurricanes were outshot in the game 29-24, but they had the lone shot in overtime to give themselves the win. Carolina's Cam Ward gets the win with 27 saves while Buffalo's Ryan Miller takes the loss with 21 saves.

With the loss by the New York Rangers, they leapfrog the Rangers into the 7th position in the Eastern Conference while the Buffalo Sabres stay in 9th, two points behind the Rangers and three points behind the Hurricanes.
