Blackhawks Vs. Bruins: Tim Thomas' 32 Saves Lift Blackhawks To Victory

Look out: the Boston Bruins are officially looking ready for a deep playoff run. For the second game in a row, the B's mopped up a quality opponent, this time with a decisive 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Tim Thomas continued his push at the Vezina Trophy with 32 big saves in the victory behind goals from Zdeno Chara, Johnny Boychuk and Nathan Horton.

The Blackhawks looked pretty tired throughout, and they displayed an inability to keep up with the Bruins throughout the entire game. Some of that, of course, likely had to do with a hard-fought win in Detroit just 24 hours earlier, but some of it also had to do with the fact that the Bruins are just a very solid team, top to bottom, right now. It starts with Thomas.

Things got a little physical in the second period when Shawn Thornton took a skate blade to the eye. As he skated to the bench with blood pouring out of his face, the Blackhawks bench chirped him a bit. Nothing happened thanks to the officials, but the game took a big jump in the mean department afterwards

The loss doesn't do Chicago any favors in the Western Conference playoff race, but there's still a bit of breathing room between their eighth-place spot and ninth-place Dallas.
