It's no secret that NHL playoff schedules are run by the television networks, and in the case of CBC's Hockey Night In Canada, they perhaps have the most pull in that department. CBC has announced prior to the NHL's official announcement of playoff schedules that they'll broadcast four different first round series.
The Vancouver Canucks will try to carry over their Presidents' Trophy regular-season campaign success into the playoffs against the Chicago Blackhawks, with the games airing live on CBC Television and streaming at CBCSports.ca starting Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT (10 p.m. ET).
They also announced that they'll cover Bruins vs. Canadiens on Thursday night from Boston, as well as the matchups between Detroit and Phoenix and Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay.
That clears up a bit of the still-mostly-unknown 2011 playoff schedule. It's likely that these four series will be covered on Versus in the United States as well. The official schedule will be announced on NHL Network at 10 p.m. Eastern Sunday, and you can catch that in this StoryStream as soon as it's known.
