Canadiens Vs. Bruins, Game 1: Bad Blood Between Teams Doesn't Spill Into Playoff Matchup, Yet

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens have had games in their regular season that epitomize the rivalry between these two teams. The fight and goal filled 8-6 game on February 9th and the Max Pacioretty incident one game later on March 8th highlighted the physicality of the season series.

The two teams kept that to a minimum though in the first game of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup as a total of 14 penalty minutes were doled out between the two teams. No fights, no blatantly dirty hits, nothing controversial happened thus far in the series.

These two teams have to play at least three more games against each other though and if the Canadiens keep frustrating the Bruins like they did on Thursday night, the frustration could boil over between the two teams. After all, that is one of the things that draws people to this series is the hatred between these two teams.
