It took Ian White six seasons to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but in his first game in those playoffs on Thursday night, it took just 20 minutes for him to be knocked out of them.
A nasty hit from Los Angeles Kings center Jarret Stoll took White out of the game in the final minute of the first period, and as a result of that hit, Stoll will miss one game following a suspension from the NHL, announced late Friday.
He'll be unavailable to play in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals against White's San Jose Sharks, but he will be available to return for Game 3 back at Staples Center on Tuesday. As for White, there's no word on if he'll be ready to get back in the lineup for Game 2.
Here's a look at the hit:
The Kings could potentially call up Brayden Schenn to take the place of Stoll in the lineup on Saturday. His WHL season with Saskatoon ended, so he's available to join Los Angeles, but after playing eight games with the Kings already this season, he's only eligible to play in two more games before a year of his entry-level contract is finished.
