Roberto Luongo made 30 saves, and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2, Sunday night in Chicago. Mikael Samuelsonn scored the game-winner for the Canucks 6:48 into the third period. Vancouver now leads Chicago three games to none in their Western Conference Quarterfinal, and can complete a sweep over the defending Stanley Cup champions Tuesday night.
Chicago had its chances, including seven power plays on the night. The Blackhawks opened the scoring on a power play goal by Duncan Keith, seven minutes into the contest. Chicago had an opportunity to take command of the game in the first period, with a 5 on 3 advantage for 77 seconds. But Luongo turned away scoring opportunities from Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, keeping the score 1-0.
Christian Erhoff tied the game 1-1, with a power play goal midway through the second, and Daniel Sedin put Vancouver up 2-1 with a goal 57 seconds later.
Patrick Kane's power play goal at the 12:40 mark of the second knotted the score at 2. But Chicago could not put the puck past Luongo the rest of the way.
