The second period of Game 2 between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals was a completely lopsided affair. The home-standing Caps out-shot the Bolts 16 to 3 in the period, but Dwayne Roloson was brilliant throughout.
He and the Bolts almost escaped the period without allowing a goal, but with about five minutes left, a funny dribbler around the crease found its way across the goal line. Brooks Laich was credited with the tally, and the score is now evened up.
The goal was basically the result of the Caps just wearing out the Lightning, and when you control the puck for long stretches of time and you keep it in the offensive end, you're going to score goals eventually, no matter the performance of the man in the crease. That's exactly what the Capitals have done, and if you're a Lightning fan, you better hope things get back to the even pace we saw in the first period.
