Mark Recchi To Retire If Boston Bruins Win Stanley Cup

Mark Recchi has had a pretty remarkable NHL career. He's played for seven different teams across 22 NHL seasons, he's won two Stanley Cups, and now, he's in a position to win a third at age 43 with the Boston Bruins

If that happens, Recchi might just finally call it a career. As he told the assembled media last week after winning Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning:

Well we'll see. I mean obviously we'll see, but I mean I'm getting up there. But it's been, this is about the Boston Bruins right now and what the guys have done. It's been a fun year for me to really be, this is what I came back for. I'm proud to say I've played with these guys and they have really sucked it up through out the year and stay focused so it's great.

Recchi has definitely lost a step as these playoffs have worn on. He hasn't scored a goal since Game 2 of the Semifinals against Philadelphia, and if he can't contribute offensively, he's not much use despite his wealth of experience. Another Stanley Cup and a ride into the sunset would be a fitting end to a great career.
