We wrote on Monday night before Game 6 about how the Stanley Cup was in the building, and waxed poetic about how awesome it is and how if the Vancouver Canucks were privileged enough to win it, it would be a fantastic ceremony even despite the fact it was in Boston and all of that.
As it turns out, we were wrong. Dead wrong. The Stanley Cup never got to TD Garden. Via Chris Johnston of the Canadian Press:
The Stanley Cup never made it to TD Garden last night. Normally would've arrived at 1st intermission, but 4-0 score kept it away. It's extremely rare for Stanley Cup not to be in the building a night it can be won. Teams don't often go down 4-0 when they can clinch.
Lord Stanley was surely in Boston, but I guess he wanted to get some extra time by the pool before leaving for the game. Understandable, and luckily for him, the Bruins made sure his shift was canceled for the evening.
