Jaromir Jagr Rumors Persist, No Decision Made Yet On NHL Future

Jaromir Jagr is no closer to signing with the Pittsburgh Penguins than he was when we all woke up on Thursday morning. He's no closer to signing with the Detroit Red Wings, either. Really, he's not much closer to anything, except the irritability of the people that have to deal with the ongoing story.

It's been two weeks since we really had a strong indication that Jagr could come back to North America and finish his career in the NHL, and it's apparently been narrowed down between the Penguins and Red Wings. But signing a contract is still not something that seems imminent, and despite a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Thursday that a contract was agreed to between the Penguins and Jagr's camp, that doesn't seem true either.

Via Mlive.com, here's Jagr's agent Petr Svoboda on Thursday afternoon:

"No decisions have been made,'' Svoboda said. "We're talking a lot. Nothing is going to happen before 6 p.m.'' [...] Asked if he anticipated a decision today, Svoboda said: "I don't have a crystal ball. I don't know.''

There's been a lot said and a lot reported, so at this point, it's really time to take the entirety of Jagr Watch with a grain of salt. He'll decide something. Sometime. Maybe. We'll see.
