Sean Avery Arrested, Released On Bail; Reportedly Called Cops 'Fat Little Pigs'

You didn't think this was going to get better for Sean Avery, did you? After the New York Rangers forward was arrested early Friday morning for shoving a police officer at his Hollywood home, it's been reported by TMZ that he called those police officers "fat little pigs" during the confrontation.

NHL star Sean Avery challenged cops to a FIGHT when they responded to his Hollywood Hills home this morning ... calling them, "Fat little pigs" ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ. [...] Sources tell us 31-year-old Avery immediately began running his mouth at the cops -- telling them he would fight all of them ... even challenging them to, "Come back without your badges."

We'll ignore them calling Avery a "star."

Avery is now out on $20,000 bail, and the New York Daily News reports that he'll face a hearing on September 2. The crime he's charged with is only a misdemeanor, so it doesn't appear as though Avery will have jail time in his future, although the Bergen Record reports that the charge does come with a penalty as high as year in jail. It could just be a paltry $2,000 fine though, too.

We'll see if this impacts his role with the Rangers, as training camp begins in about a month and a half.
