Chris Drury was the captain of the New York Rangers. He earned a lot of money and didn't really deserve that money. He was bought out of his contract. Thus, the Rangers need a new captain. Ryan Callahan is that new captain.
Blueshirt Banter has more, and they seem pretty happy with the decision, saying that "Callahan plays a captain's game." Marc Staal and prized offseason free agent acquisition Brad Richards will be the alternate captains.
