The Washington Capitals are hosting their first preseason game of the season just down the road in Baltimore, MD with the First Baltimore Hockey Classic. Building a team's fanbase by hosting a preseason game in another area is common practice. The First Mariner Arena doesn't normally host hockey games and the fresh sheet of ice that was laid down for the game has some ... issues.
Those are cracks in the ice, and according to Steven Whyno from the Washington Times, those cracks can be seen from the pressbox. According the Capitals, those cracks are under the surface of the ice and shouldn't affect the game play nor the safety of the players.
