Bernie Parent is 66, and his last game in the NHL was in 1979. That didn't stop the Flyers legend from stealing the show in the 2012 Winter Classic's Alumni Game on Saturday.
Parent didn't concede a goal in his five minutes between the pipes, despite facing six shots, and sprawled for one save that got the crowd roaring. Serenaded with a "Bernie, Bernie, Bernie!" chant as he left the ice, Parent told reporters he loved it:
"I don't know how to describe it," he said. "I guess the best way to describe it is: The feeling you get when people chant your name, money cannot buy. Any amount of money cannot buy that."
Versus, which televised the game, named Parent the first of its three stars.
