Todd McLellan Named 2012 NHL All-Star Game Coach

Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien was guaranteed a spot as one of the NHL All-Star game coaches by virtue of winning the Stanley Cup, and he now knows who will oppose him on the other bench. The All-Star game no longer features the Eastern Conference against the Western Conference, so the coaching setup is a bit odd. One team will be presided over by Julien and his assistants. The other will have ... two head coaches. Yeah, we know. It's weird.

John Tortorella wrapped up one of those spots over the weekend, as his New York Rangers had the East's best record by the end of Monday's set of games. San Jose Sharks coach Todd McLellan clinched the other spot on Monday, and he will join Tortorella on the bench. Because the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Florida Panthers on Monday, his team has the best record in the West in terms of points percentage.
