Let's just preface this by saying we seriously do feel bad for Rick DiPietro. He's had worse luck than just about any other NHL player in recent history (perhaps ever), and just when it finally seems like he's healthy, he winds up not only on the injured reserve, but suddenly out for the entire season again.
Breaking #Isles news: Rick DiPietro to have surgery Tuesday to repair a sports hernia. Season likely done.

But really, how can we not laugh at this point? How can DiPietro not sit back and laugh at this point, even? Chronic knee injuries that never seem to stop, hip problems, missing 20 games after getting punched in the face by Brent Johnson's weak hand. The list goes on.
Honestly, don't think we're laughing at DiPietro as much as we're laughing at his contract, and the Islanders silly decision to give him a 15 year contract. Only nine and a half years left...
