After a scoreless second period, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning lit up the scoreboard for seven goals over the final twenty minutes at the Forum in Tampa Bay. When it was all said and done, Evgeni Malkin's eighth career hat trick led the Pens to the 6-3 win and a weekend sweep of the state of Florida. Malkin scored three unanswered goals to bust open the 3-3 tie and hand the Lightning their seventh straight loss.

The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in OT:
Taylor Hall scored a power play goal with under two minutes remaining in overtime Sunday night, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at Rexall Place in Edmonton. Justin Williams was called for high sticking at 2:45 of overtime, and Hall ended the game 21 seconds later.

The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-2:
Jason Blake had two goals and an assist, as the suddenly red-hot Anaheim Ducks beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 on Sunday night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Anaheim has secured at least one point in six straight games, as they are 5-0-1 during that span and have improved to 8-9-3 under head coach Bruce Boudreau.
