The 2012 NHL WInter Classic was set to have the puck drop on Monday, January 2nd at 1:00 pm ET in Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, but ice conditions have warranted a time change. The puck will now drop at 3 p.m. ET.
The New York Rangers will take on the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL's annual "outdoor" game. The Flyers will be looking to pick up some goals against a New York Rangers defense that has been playing very well so far in the early stages of the 2011-12 NHL season. The Rangers have won five games in a row, allowing just seven goals in that stretch of games.
Both teams come in with virtually even records on the season, but the Rangers are led by right winger Marian Gaborik who leads the Rangers in both goals and points. On the flip side, center Claude Giroux heads into the game leading the Flyers in points and assists, while winger Scott Hartnell leads the team in goals scored. The Flyers lost on the road to the Rangers back on December 23rd, but will look to rebound from a stretch that has seen the team lose four of their last six games.
Game date, time: 3:00 p.m. ET, Monday, January 2nd
Location: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA
TV channel: NBC, CBC, nbcsports.com (live stream)
