Jaromir Jagr Leaves Ice In First Period Of Winter Classic

Stay connected with SB Nation

Jaromir Jagr, who has had an effective first period for the Philadelphia Flyers with arguably their best scoring chance, was forced off the ice early in the 2012 Winter Classic. With around five minutes left in the period, Jagr had to be removed from the game and did not come out for another shift. However, there's no reason to worry, Flyers fans. It appears that Jagr just has an equipment issue and that he is not injured.

Jagr had what looked like a clear scoring chance in the middle of the period, but New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist got a piece of his close-range effort and the puck dribbled harmlessly across the crease with no one to take advantage of the open net. Almost certainly, he'll be back out on the ice for the second period.
