Winter Classic 2012 Score: Brayden Schenn Puts Flyers Up With First NHL Goal

Brayden Schenn has picked a fantastic time to score his first career NHL goal. The 20-year-old has the Philadelphia Flyers on the board first in the 2012 Winter Classic, as they lead the New York Rangers 1-0 late in the second period. Schenn. Henrik Lundqvist had been stealing the show up until the goal, but he was partially at fault for the opener.

After Schenn won a faceoff, Matt Carle chased down the puck and threw it on net. Lundqvist got his body in front of it, but the puck appeared to change directions just before it reached him. As a result, he couldn't do what he wanted with the puck and gave up a juicy rebound that fell right to Schenn. The youngster tapped in his first career goal, breaking the deadlock in what had been a very defensive game.
