Scott Hartnell Named NHL All-Star, Replaces Jonathan Toews

Scott Hartnell of the Philadelphia Flyers isn't a pretty player. He scores ugly goals, falls down on his skates more than any NHLer should, and during the playoffs, looks more animal than human.

But his remarkable year on the Flyers' top line, no doubt helped by budding superstar Claude Giroux and future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr, has turned him into one of the faces of the league, as evidenced by his All-Star selection on Tuesday morning. The NHL named Hartnell to the All-Star Game as a replacement for Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, who will miss the festivities in Ottawa with a broken wrist.

Hartnell is 19th in the NHL in points, and he leads the potent Flyers with 25 goals. He leads the entire league with 13 power play goals.
