NHL All-Star Draft 2012: Rules, TV Schedule And More

On Thursday night, All-Star captains Daniel Alfredsson of the host team Ottawa Senators and Zdena Chara of the Boston Bruins will choose the teams that will compete in the the 2012 NHL All-Star game.

NBC Sports Network will carry the event live at 8pm ET, with a pre-show starting at 7:30pm ET.

Alfredsson and Chara will choose between 38 All-Stars, which each team needing to select three goalies each with their first ten picks and six defensemen with their first 15 picks. Assisting Alfredsson will be New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. Chara will be assisted by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul.

"Going into last year's game, the draft was the story, and coming out of it, the draft was the story," NBC analyst Ed Olczyk said via the USA Today . "It superseded the game, the skills and everything else. Anytime you can spice it up like that, it's a real positive."
