NHL All-Star Game 2012: Team Chara, Team Alfredsson Have Rosters That Could Divide Crowd

The 2012 NHL All-Star Game isn't until Sunday in Ottawa, but Thursday night's NHL All-Star Draft established one team as a sentimental favorite for the Ottawa crowd. Stunningly, it isn't the one led by Bruins (and ex-Senators) defenseman Zdeno Chara.

Team Chara's roster has a who's who of potential boo-worthy players for the likely overwhelmingly pro-Senators crowd: there are Joffrey Lupul, Phil Kessel, and Dion Phaneuf, all from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and there are Chara and Boston teammate Tyler Seguin, and there are New York Rangers Marian Gaborik and Dan Girardi. Don't expect this assortment of stars from the Senators' rivals to get many ovations, even with Ottawa rookie Colin Greening making the cut.

On the other hand, Daniel Alfredsson's team's roster should be the crowd's favorite. Team Alfredsson has four Senators — Alfredsson, Erik Karlsson, Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek — and a former Senator, Brian Elliott, as one of its three options between the pipes. Add in the red jerseys the roster will don, and it's a lock that Team Alfredsson is getting the lion's share of the love in Ottawa come Sunday.
