Things seemed to be turning around Sunday when Chicago jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Yet, that lead didn't hold up as Detroit mounted a comeback in a 3-2 overtime victory.
The Blackhawks outshot the Red Wings 20-15 in the final 40 minutes, but could not score again. Yet, Daniel Cleary was able to tie the game at 2-2 with less than five minutes left to send the game to overtime.
Chicago and Detroit are now tied with 53 points, but the latter now has the lead in the Central Divisions. Blackhawks down.
