Many familiar faces from the NHL are playing in the American Hockey League, which got underway this weekend.
Some prominent NHL players will hit the ice on Saturday with various American Hockey League teams as they wait for the NHL lockout to end.
New Jersey Devil teammates Adam Larsson and Adam Henrique will hit the ice for the Albany River Rats as they take on the Manchester Monarchs. Henrique scored 51 points for the Devils last year. The Monarchs are boosted by Los Angeles Kings Slava Voynov.
The Oklahoma Barons got a huge boost courtesy of the Los Angeles Kings from the lockout. The Barons led the AHL Western Conference with 99 points last season and have Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Magnus Paajarvi from the Edmonton Oilers on the team. The Barons will go up against Lake Erie.
Cam Atkinson and Ryan Johansen of the Columbus Blue Jackets have joined the Springfield Falcons, who open their 2012 AHL season against St. John's.
