A response to the NHL's latest CBA proposal is expected from the players association within the next couple of days.

The NHL Players' Association's conference call on Tuesday evening ended without a formal response or decision to the NHL's latest offer, but a counter-proposal is expected within the next couple of days.

The NHL recently proposed a 50-50 revenue split during collective bargaining agreement talks on Tuesday, and also would allow teams to spend $70 million on salaries, according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN. The proposed CBA would also be around six years in length.

The revenue split would be a 7 percent drop for the players, who earned 57 percent under the expired agreement.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said an agreement is needed by Nov. 2 if the NHL wishes to play an 82-game season in 2012-13. This is the third lockout under Bettman's tour of duty as commissioner. The lockout has now been going on for a month and a day.
