Ben Eager faces court hearing after Toronto bar fight

Kelvin Kuo-US PRESSWIRE

Edmondton's Ben Eager faces charges stemming from a bar fight on Saturday.

Edmonton Oilers forward Ben Eager must appear in a Toronto court on Nov. 26 to face assault charges, after getting into an altercation at a bar on Saturday, according to TSN. Eager and his brother, Michael, are both charged with threatening bodily harm, causing bodily harm, and assault with a weapon in an incident that sent one man to the hospital.

The journeyman played his first season for Edmonton in 2011-12. The Oilers are Eager's fifth different team in his first seven years in the NHL. He played in 63 games last season, recording eight goals and five assists. The 28-year-old was originally drafted 23rd overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2002, but never played for the club.

Eager spent time with the Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks, and the Atlanta Thrashers before arriving in Edmonton. He has two years remaining on his contract with the Oilers, which is scheduled to pay him $3.3 million.
