Andrei Markov, the veteran defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens, has signed a deal with Vityaz Chekhov in the KHL.

Andrei Markov joins the growing list of Montreal Canadiens to sign in Europe as he's joined Vityaz Chekhov of the KHL.

The Russian Markov began his career in the KHL with Dynamo Moscow, for whom Alex Ovechkin is currently playing. It's somewhat of a return to action for Markov after a few injury-ridden seasons, as issues with his right knee have limited him to only 20 games in the past two seasons. He's apparently healthy now, which is good news for Montreal, with whom he is under contract for another season. Markov has played his entire NHL career with the Canadiens since joining the club for the 2001-02 season, registering 81 goals and 288 assists in the NHL.

He'll be the only NHL player currently signed with Vityaz. He joins several other Canadiens players in Europe: Yannick Weber, Max Pacioretty, and Raphael Diaz are all signed with various clubs in the Swiss league.
