Paul Bissonnette of the Phoenix Coyotes has taken his talents to the Cardiff Devils while the league remains in a lockout.
The Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League have signed Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Paul Bissonnette. The terms and conditions of the contract were not disclosed. Bissonnette was looking for a club team to play with as the NHL continues working on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and players remain locked out.
The Devils announced the signing before their game Thursday.
Bissonnette has played the last four years in the NHL. He originally broke in with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2008, although he played sparingly. He then went to the Coyotes where he has become a fan favorite for his aggressive play, appearing in at least 31 games the past three years.
In 2012, Bissonnette scored one goal and had a plus-minus of minus-4. One thing he does well is enforce his size and strength on his opponents, and that will likely continue to be the case in the EIHL.
Cardiff is 6-3-1 this season with 15 points. They are currently in fourth place.
