NHL's Bill Daly: Players union 'has no genuine interest in reaching an agreement'

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly's words Thursday confirmed every hockey fan's biggest fear: this lockout is going nowhere, fast.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly believes that the players union "has no genuine interest in reaching an agreement" to end the lockout after claiming that they've failed to reciprocate any of the league's offers, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Daly went on to say that "regardless of what we propose or how we suggest to compromise" the players keep responding with one simple word: "no."

Daly's statements comes on the two-month anniversary of the start of this lockout on a day in which the sides failed to talk once again.

The NHL has already canceled all their games through Nov. 30 along with the outdoor Winter Classic game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings on Jan. 1. If both sides don't pick up the pace of their stagnant negotiations, next up will be the rest of December's slate of games.

And after the bleak tone surrounding what Daly had to say Thursday, that's probably inevitable at this point.
