2012 College Hockey schedule: No. 2 Denver to face off against No. 14 Colorado College

The first game of the Gold Pan series highlights Friday night's collegiate hockey schedule.

The Denver Pioneers hockey team are set for a Friday showdown against a very formidable Colorado College Tigers squad to begin the annual Gold Pan series.

The No. 2 ranked Pioneers and No. 14 Tigers played some tight hockey games last season with Colorado College taking the series 2-1-1. Denver's offense has been greatly improved this season though with the Pioneers putting up at least five goals in five of their eight games.

Friday's matchup will be the 284th meeting between these two teams with the series dating all the back to 1950.

No. 19 Northern Michigan at Ohio St.: 7:05 p.m.

No. 20 Ferris St. at Bowling Green: 7:05 p.m.

No. 17 Harvard at No. 10 Cornell: 7:30 p.m. on NBC Sports Network

Michigan St. at No. 4 Miami (OH): 7:35 p.m.

No. 8 Notre Dame at No. 13 Michigan: 7:35 p.m.

Wisconsin at No. 3 Minnesota: 8:00 p.m.

Minnesota Duluth at No. 6 North Dakota: 8:37 p.m.

No. 2 Denver at No. 14 Colorado College: 9:37 p.m.

No. 9 Western Michigan at Alaska: 11:35 p.m.
