AHL standings 2012: Charlotte Checkers lead league in points

The Charlotte Checkers currently have the most points in the American Hockey League.

The Charlotte Checkers have the most points in the AHL and hold sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.

Having produced 24 points in 16 games played, Charlotte boasts an impressive 11-3-2 record this season and lead the second-place Abbotsford Heat by a single point. Abbotsford has played one less game than Charlotte and has a 10-2-3 record through 15 games.

The Grand Rapids Griffins round out the top portion of the Western Conference as they currently lead the Midwest Division with 18 points. Having amassed a 8-4-2 record in 14 games, the Griffins hold a two-point lead over the Chicago Wolves for the top spot in the division.

In the Eastern Conference, the Springfield Falcons and Syracuse Crunch are tied for first place with 22 points. Springfield possesses the top spot, but both teams have an identical 10-2-2 record through 14 games. The Worcester Sharks round out the top portion of the standings as they currently lead the Atlantic Division with 16 points.
