Montreal Canadiens prospect suffered head injury, had surgery after hitting head on the ice.
Geoffrion, a forward, was injured after being checked hard by J.P. Cote of Syracuse. He hit his head and bled onto the ice, although he did leave the ice under his own power. He was taken to the hospital for surgery, but his injury was not life-threatening, according to The Montreal Gazette.
Marc Antoine Godin of La Presse reported that Geoffrion lost his helmet on the play and the severity of the injury was further complicated when Geoffrion made contact with Cote's skate, resulting in a cut.
There is no report on what specifically the surgery was to correct. Heather Engel of The Canadian Press reports that his parents were with him during the surgery.
Geoffrion, 24, was selected in the 2006 draft by the Nashville Predators.
