NHL lockout: Sidney Crosby not making Europe plans yet

Jamie Sabau

Sidney Crosby has not yet made a decision on whether he will sign overseas while waiting for the NHL lockout to end. However, he plans on making that decision by early January if a new collective bargaining agreement is not in place.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby believes that he will come to a decision on whether to sign with a team overseas by early January, according to a report by Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Tuesday afternoon.

Stating that he is waiting out the NHL lockout, Crosby believes that the chances of a resolution being formed by the NHL and NHL Players' Association on a new collective bargaining agreement will become more clear in the coming weeks:

"I'll probably just wait and see what's going on (with the NHL lockout). We should have a pretty good idea in early January of what's going to happen. Hopefully, it's not a decision I have to make."

Crosby plans to return to his offseason home in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, on Wednesday for the holiday season. He is expecting to spend about a week there and will either return to Western Pennsylvania to continue participation in player organized workouts at the Iceoplex at Southpointe or find a professional team in Europe to play with.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the NHL and NHLPA currently have no future negotiation meetings scheduled and are tentatively taking steps to bring the process into the legal system.
