Braden Holtby was called up to the Washington Capitals late Monday on an emergency basis, meaning he wouldn't have been with the NHL club for long. His demotion was imminent regardless of how he played in Monday night's game against the San Jose Sharks, but that won't stop us from pointing out the five goals he allowed in that game.
One came on a Joe Pavelski slap shot ... from beyond center ice.
Holtby was returned to the Hershey Bears first thing Tuesday morning.
