The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Los Angeles Kings were one second away from going to overtime in a 2-2 game, but Drew Doughty's power play goal at the buzzer gave the Kings the 3-2 victory, a 25th victory on the season and 60 overall points.
The Kings had opened the scoring in the first period with Justin Williams' 10th goal of the season when he scored it on the power play at 8:40 into the period. Fedor Tyutin had gone to the box for a two-minute tripping penalty. The teams then exchanged goals in the second period. Columbus' Derek Dorsett scored a little over one minute into the frame while Dustin Penner scored with a little over five minutes left in the period.
Colton Gillies scored his first goal of the season when he tied the game at two in the third period. Nearly 15 minutes later, Doughty netted the game-winner for the Kings.
