Mike Ribeiro enjoys an interesting reputation around the NHL, sparked mainly because of some incredibly immature actions during his time with the Montreal Canadiens. While it's been five seasons and nearly six years since he was traded to the Dallas Stars, Ribeiro's reputation as a cocky, frustrating player has stuck with him.
He's quieted down during his time in Dallas, but sometimes he allows his showboating nature to sneak through, whether it's a between-the-legs goal or shushing the Kings' bench after a shootout goal. Nothing was grander than his triumphant return to Montreal for the first time since being traded, as he scored a big goal in the third period and was voted the No. 1 star of the game -- by the fans.
David Stubbs called it a "Mickey Mouse act", but Ribeiro's salute and bow to the fans after the game was nothing more than a tribute to the hardcore Montreal fans -- the ones that ran him out of town in 2006 and the ones that welcomed him with cheers six years later.
Video after the jump.
