It's not often you see the kind of candor shared by members of the Columbus Blue Jackets this morning... but ah, what the hell. They might not even be members of the Columbus Blue Jackets next week, so it doesn't really matter anyway.
Nobody ripped the organization or anything juicy like that, but several players did tell the Columbus Dispatch on Thursday that yeah, they're nervous about the approaching trade deadline. And they're prepared, too.
R.J. Umberger told the paper that he spends off days searching the Internet (Hi R.J.!) and "worrying about what might be happening." Another player said that he has a bag packed already in case he were traded, and that other players on the team likely do, too. It goes with the territory, I guess, but it's still pretty bizarre to imagine living life that way.
But really, you can understand why they might feel worried about a potential trade. As these players are telling reporter Aaron Portzline this, just down the hall, this is happening:
And, down the hall from the dressing room, the "press conference" room is being rearranged to handle a large crowd, such as one a big trade might draw.
Ooooooh. /giddy with possible trade excitement
