The rumored trade between the Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Bluejackets is reportedly close to becoming official, pending physicals on Friday morning. The trade, which was rumored to be close on Thursday afternoon, will reportedly send Jeff Carter to the Kings in exchange for Jack Johnson and a first-round draft pick.
The news comes from Bob McKenzie, as well as numerous other NHL reporters.

Carter was told a short while ago by CBJ GM Scott Howson he had been traded but it's contingent on passing a medical tomorrow.

Again, it's quite the bounty to give up for Carter and the move seems to have been made somewhat out of urgency. Los Angeles needed a scorer, and was willing to give up quite a bit to acquire Carter, who had been rumored to be on the market as the trade deadline approached.
