P.A. Parenteau might just be the perfect rental player, with his low cap hit relative to his production. He has 58 points in 62 games for the New York Islanders this season, but only hits the cap at $1.25 million per year. Parenteau would be a huge addition for any playoff bound team and, theoretically, it should take too much to acquire him.
Not as much as the Islanders are asking, at least.
The Isles were asking for a first round pick for Parenteau last night. That could change but that was the deal at 5 p.m. #NHL #SNtrade

Parenteau is a nice addition, but to think he's worth a first-round pick might be a little outrageous. After all, he is still a rental player, and there's no guarantee that he will continue the same production beyond this season.
