Oilers Vs. Ducks: Anaheim Scores 3 In Final Period For 4-2 Win

The Ducks get one back under the win-column with a 4-2 win at home against the Edmonton Oilers. The third period was a big one, especially for Corey Perry, who had two goals and scored his sixth game-winner this season.

Anaheim has cooled off since getting back into the playoff race, losing three out of their last four games. Monday night, they hosted the Edmonton Oilers and got back with a win, taking a 4-2 game at home before going back on the road for a brief-but-tough three-game swing.

Facing a team with a potentially potent offense, the Ducks had to jump on the board first, and they were able to thanks to Jason Blake's power-play marker past Nikolai Khabibulin with only 2:42 remaining in the first period after dominating the offensive flow for most of the first period. Edmonton did not go away in the second, as they put on the pressure against Jonas Hiller and his defense. Nick Schultz's shot from the point whizzed through a solid screen set up by Shawn Horcoff, whose tip-in tied the game with 31 seconds left in the second.

The Ducks took back the game in the third period, confirmed by a long pass from Teemu Selanne to Bobby Ryan, who took the puck down, dodging the Edmonton defense and made a diving backhand shot to regain the lead for Anaheim.

While Ryan's moves were great to watch, what's even cooler is that Selanne's assist on the goal put the Finn at 19th all-time in points with 1,398, matching Jari Kurri, who used to play for the Ducks' opponents, the Oilers.

Corey Perry added some insurance scoring his 10th goal in 15 games after a series of rebounds. Jordan Eberle put the Oilers back within one goal on their own power play, but 32 seconds later after they pulled the goalie, Perry sealed the game with the empty-net goal.
