The NHL's Western Conference playoff race is about as intriguing as it always is, with the five teams from the No. 8 spot to the No. 11 spot separated by just five points. It's going to come down to the wire and it's going to be awesome.
The Eastern Conference is much the same way, but ... well, it probably shouldn't be. Winnipeg may have defeated the Sabres on Monday night to create some separation there, but the fact of the matter is that Buffalo and Tampa Bay are very much in the race.
That's only possible because the Jets, Maple Leafs, Capitals and Panthers have failed to take control of things, and it's all combining to make a boring race much more intriguing than it should be. They call it parity, but is it really partity if everybody is bad?
