The Pittsburgh Penguins are in a virtual must-win situation after dropping Game 1 at home to the Philadelphia Flyers in heartbreaking fashion.

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers looked liked it was going to be a blowout in the early going. Sidney Crosby scored the first goal of the Stanley Cup Playoffs less than three minutes into the game and that was followed up by two more goals in the first period. Pittsburgh went into the first intermission up 3-0, and they would not score again.

The Flyers pulled off a fantastic comeback on the back of two goals by Danny Briere. Brayden Schenn sent the game to overtime and Jakub Voracek scored less than three minutes into the period, giving his team an improbable comeback road win.

There was a bit of controversy in the game -- Briere's first goal was well offside -- but there was no excuse for the other three goals that the Penguins allowed. Those three were all on them, and a couple should have been stopped by Marc-Andre Fleury. In the middle of the season Fleury looked like an elite goaltender, but he's struggled down the stretch for the Pens and he carried his average regular-season form into the postseason on Wednesday.

No series is ever truly over at 2-0 but, if the Penguins fail to win on Friday night and let the Flyers go home with a 2-0 lead, the series might as well be over. It would be an extremely difficult hole to climb out of, even for a team with the offensive talent of the Penguins.
