After getting upset in the first game of their best-of-seven Western Conference Quarterfinals series, the St. Louis Blues restored order in Game 2 with a 3-0 victory that tied the series at 1-1.
Vladimir Sobotka "scored" a first-period goal just 1:31 into the game on a miscue by Marc Edouard Vlasic, and David Backes followed it with a goal on a beautiful feed from T.J. Oshie in the second period that gave the Blues a 2-0 lead they would hold until the final minute of the game, when David Perron jammed in the third goal of the night on a 5-on-3 power play.
Jaroslav Halak (12 saves) and Brian Elliott (17 saves) combined to shut out the Sharks, and left San Jose frustrated at the end of the game. Both teams scrapped repeatedly in the last few minutes of the game, and threw down again after the final horn sounded.
Game 3 of the series will come on Monday at 10 p.m. Eastern in San Jose.
