The Detroit Red Wings evened their series with the Nashville Predators at 1-1. With a return to Joe Louis Arena, will the Red Wings maintain their momentum and pull ahead of the Predators?
The Detroit Red Wings return home on Sunday afternoon to host the Nashville Predators in Game 3 of this Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. After dropping the first game of the series, 3-2, the Red Wings battled back for a 3-2 victory in Game 2.
The Red Wings managed to put just 17 shots on net against the Predators' Pekka Rinne, but they made the most of those attempts. Ian White and Cory Emmerton each scored a goal for Detroit in the first period. Nashville cut that lead to 2-1 on Andrei Kostitsyn's goal at 9:01 in the second period, but Johan Franzen netted an insurance goal just 56 seconds later. And the Red Wings needed that insurance in the third period, as Shea Weber cut the score to 3-2 with a goal at 15:16.
Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard put in a strong effort with 24 saves on 26 shots and didn't allow a goal on any of Nashville's six power plays.
Will a return home keep the Red Wings on the path to victory?
Game time/date: 12:00 p.m ET, Sunday, April 15, 2012
Location: Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI
TV: NBC, CBC, RDS
