Jaromir Jagr almost signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins over the summer. Ultimately, he decided to join the Philadelphia Flyers instead, and fans in Pittsburgh have not forgiven him for the deed. His effort on Claude Giroux's third period goal, which put the Flyers up 7-4 in Game 3, will not help bridge the divide.
Jagr essentally took Pascal Dupuis on his back, carried it low to the goal line, and then one-handed a pass over to Giroux in the middle of the ice. Backup goaltender Brent Johnson had no chance at the blistering shot that came off Giroux's stick.
The Penguins are attempting a comeback in the third period, but the Flyers have suddenly begun playing suffocating defense. Pittsburgh hasn't been able to up many chances in the first 10 minutes of the third period, and a three-goal lead seems rather safe. Then again, the way this series has gone ...
