It's been a relatively uneventful first period between the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks, which probably suits the team with the 2-0 series lead and the hot goalie just fine. Even so, the Kings did have two power plays in the first period and didn't exactly show any kind of sense of urgency in either. They killed both of those penalties easily, including one at the end of the period, and could have a bit of momentum heading into the first intermission tied 0-0.

The Kings have managed just five total shots on goal so far, even though the had two power plays. Vancouver also had a power play early in the period after Dustin Brown was called for elbowing, but Jonathan Quick came up big on the kill. Quick was good throughout the period, making 10 saves in total.

Cory Schneider has technically been an improvement over Roberto Luongo thus far, but the Canucks goalie has hardly been tested. The pressure isn't on the Kings to attack in this series, but they might want to try getting the puck to the net against a goalie who didn't start the first two games.
