Devils Vs. Panthers, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 3: Florida Rages Ahead, 4-3

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Florida Panthers have completely turned around their 3-0 deficit to start Game 3 against the New Jersey Devils. They scored twice at the end of the first period to cut the deficit to one goal, then scored twice early in the second period to take a 4-3 lead heading into the second intermission.

Under three minutes into the period, Mike Weaver scored a screened goal from the blue line to tie up the game at 3-3. At that point, Peter DeBoer made the stunning decision to pull Martin Brodeur after he allowed three goals on 12 shots. So far, that move has not paid off. His replacement Johan Hedberg gave up a goal four minutes later to Brian Campbell, though in Hedberg's defense, the goal came on a power play and he has been very good since.

Just before the end of the period, the Devils appeared to tie the game up but their goal was disallowed for a goalie interference penalty. Sean Bernier was judged to have interfered with Scott Clemmensen when the goal was scored, but the replay indicated that the contact was completely incidental and that Clemmensen had drifted a bit outside of the crease.
