Karl Alzner Says He Didn't Call Milan Lucic A Crybaby

The playoff series between the Capitals and Bruins exploded into mayhem in Game 3 on Monday night. Hilarious, entertaining mayhem. Nicklas Backstrom (of all people) was suspended, but his cross-check in the waning seconds of the game was preceded by a whole bunch of stuff that flared up throughout the game.

One of those things? Karl Alzner doing this:

Milan Lucic wasn't happy about that, and it just added fuel to the fire between these two teams in Game 3. However, before Game 4, Alzner told the media that he didn't mean to imply that Lucic is a crybaby. Yeah.

"This is a good time to explain; my actions weren't calling him a baby. We all know he's one of the toughest guys in the league. It was more just a lot of guys complaining about calls out there, and there's nothing we can do about the calls once they're made."

It's actually an understandable point Alzner makes. He was caught up in the heat of the moment and he did something funny. It's just particularly funny because of this old tweet Alzner sent out in March:

He explained that one on Wednesday as well, telling the Washington Times:

"It's funny because I made a comment on Twitter a while ago about saying if we fought, I'd obviously win, haha. Haha being the sarcasm."

Karl Alzner said that. He spoke the words "haha being the sarcasm." Like, in an interview. This dude can never change. He is incredible.
