Bruins Vs. Capitals Game 7 Score, NHL Playoffs 2012: John Carlson Credited With Goal; Washington Leads 1-0

Stay connected with SB Nation

Man, what a tip. John Carlson took a shot from the point and Matt Hendricks caught a piece of the puck with his stick, and 11:23 into the first period of Game 7, the Washington Capitals lead the Boston Bruins 1-0.

Tim Thomas never had a chance as Hendricks perfectly executed the deflection, but sadly for the tough guy, the scorers at TD Garden opted to give credit for the goal to Carlson. Watch the video to realize just how wrong that call is. Jason Chimera was credited with an assist.

Pucks don't change direction in midair, so it's certainly possible Hendricks will get credit for this one before the night is through. For now, though, it doesn't really matter which Capital received credit. It all counts the same on the big scoreboard over center ice, and Washington has the lead.
